Contact them and tell them you do not want to be medicated through your water supply with untested industrial grade products!

Assembly Bill 3611, the "New Jersey Public Water Supply Fluoridation Act," requiring the fluoridation of all public water supply systems in New Jersey was introduced on May 15, then withdrawn on May 22, 2003. We need to contact the sponsors below and object to any legislation mandating statewide fluoridation, especially with products not pharmaceutically graded or having been approved by FDA for safety and effectiveness.

Just because the bill has been withdrawn, it doesn't mean it is dead.

It will have to be reassigned a number and reintroduced, and so can be at any time. Let's be vigilant. Better yet, let's be proactive and contact our own legislators asking them not to sponsor or sign any legislation mandating fluoridation AND asking them to sponsor a bill disallowing anything to be added to the drinking water that isn't FDA approved and pharmaceutically graded - or even better, to sponsor legislation that disallows the public to be medicated through their water supplies!

The bill, we understand, will be sent to the Assembly Environmental and Solid Waste Committee. The bill will then be posted (scheduled) and heard in the Committee when the Chairs decide to do so. After a Committee hearing, it may be voted out of the Committee and on to the full Assembly for a hearing.

If this bill is sent to the Environmental and Solid Waste Committee, its members are:

Chair:
Assemblyman Reed Gusciora, (D)
District 15 (Mercer)
226 West State St
Trenton, NJ 08608
609-292-0500
AsmGusciora@njleg.org or reednj15@aol.com

Vice Chair:
Assemblywoman Linda Stender, (D)
District 22 (Union/Middlesex)
1801 East Second St. 2nd Floor
Scotch Plains, NJ 07076
908-668-1900
AswStender@njleg.org

Please ask them to postpone committee hearings until after summer vacations.

This is a statewide mandate. It affects all the residents in the state that are on public water systems.

Sufficient time is needed for all New Jersey citizens to become aware of and comment upon this important legislation! If you are a resident of the districts represented by these state legislators, please call them. If you can get an appointment to meet with them, NJCOFF would be willing to attend with you.

Once the bill is posted (scheduled for a committee hearing), the following are the other members of the committee:

Assemblyman Larry Chatzidakis, (R) Dist. 8, AsmChatzidakis@njleg.org, 856-234-8080, 3000 Midlantic Dr. Suite 103, Mount Laurel, NJ 08054

Assemblyman Upendra Chivukula, (D) Dist. 17, AsmChivukula@njleg.org, 732-247-3999, 888 Easton Ave. Somerset. NJ 08873

Assemblyman John McKeon, (D), Dist. 27, AsmMcKeon@njleg.org 973-275-1113, 4 Sloan St. Suite D&E, South Orange, NJ 07079

Assemblywoman Connie Myers, (R), Dist. 23, AswMeyers@njleg.org, 908-835-1202, 124 W. Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882.
